San Francisco raised municipal golf fees in 2025; check the current rate before booking

San Francisco municipal golf fees rose in 2025, but the September 2026 coverage of the system’s deficit is not, by itself, notice of another increase. For your next round, check the city’s current rates and official booking links and confirm the total quoted price rather than automatically adding last year’s surcharge.

What changed in 2025?

The city’s 2025 golf-fee ordinance, passed by the Board of Supervisors on July 22 and approved by the mayor on August 1, authorized higher resident rates at certain courses, changes to weekend pricing and weekday-only resident senior discounts.

It also introduced a cost-recovery surcharge of $6 per 18 holes or $4 per nine holes. The final ordinance ties the changes to rising operating and maintenance costs, including stormwater charges. Those are the original surcharge amounts—not a new October 2026 add-on. The ordinance also provides for annual inflation adjustments and requires the department to publish current fees online.

The municipal system covered by the ordinance includes Harding Park, Fleming, Lincoln Park, Sharp Park, Golden Gate Park and McLaren Park’s Gleneagles course. It is not a fee rule for every public or private course in San Francisco.

What should you budget now?

These adult weekday green fees were listed on SF Recreation and Parks’ rate page when checked on October 25, 2026. They are a planning reference, not a quote for a particular tee time.

Course Holes Standard rate Resident-card rate
Gleneagles 9 $41 $36
Golden Gate Park 9 $45 $28
Lincoln Park 18 $63 $49
Sharp Park 18 $79 $63

For a straightforward weekday comparison, use Monday–Thursday. Friday pricing needs care: the city lists Friday–Sunday as weekend pricing, while Lincoln Park’s own page lists Friday mornings as weekday and Friday afternoons as weekend. Confirm the category for your actual start time.

Harding Park and Fleming use on-demand flexible green fee pricing, according to the city’s booking page. Check the linked official tee sheet for your date, time and resident status instead of relying on a single headline rate.

Does a resident card still save money?

The city’s resident-card page lists a San Francisco card at $139 as of July 1, 2026, valid for two years. You must qualify and obtain the card to use resident-card rates; a local address alone is not the rate category.

At Lincoln Park’s listed weekday prices, the card saves $14 per round. Ten such rounds would recover the $139 card cost over its two-year validity, assuming those prices remain unchanged. Your break-even point will differ by course and rate category.

Pacifica cards cost $307 under the same dated schedule and provide discounted rates at Sharp Park only. They are not interchangeable with San Francisco cards.

Does the deficit mean another increase is coming?

The San Francisco Standard’s September 13, 2026 report put the projected fiscal 2026–27 golf shortfall at $4.9 million and reported that the department was reviewing operations. That is budget context, not a newly approved green fee schedule.

Before reserving:

  • Check the exact player category and start time through the city’s official course links.
  • Review booking charges and extras. Lincoln Park lists a $2-per-player booking fee for reservations eight or more days ahead; carts and rental clubs have separate prices on its rate page.
  • Compare a shorter round if your budget is tight. Our Golden Gate Park Golf Course planning guide covers its nine-hole layout, booking windows and cancellation rules.
