Start on the green
Separate the direction of a putt from its pace.
On the practice green, choose a clear target and notice where the ball starts. Then pay attention to where it stops. A ball can begin on your intended line and still finish too short or too far.
Try a comfortable setup and a smooth stroke. Change one thing at a time. The linked PGA demonstration offers a focused way to practise start line; a coach can help you adapt the setup.
Practice
Roll balls toward a chosen spot, first watching the starting direction and then the finishing distance. Record which part you want to work on next.
