Feel at home with golf
Understand what happens during a round and choose a comfortable first step.
A round takes you from the teeing area to the hole on each green. Between them you may meet fairway, longer grass, bunkers and penalty areas. You can enjoy learning before you attempt a full round.
Start with an experience you can manage: a putting green, a coached session, a range visit or a shorter course. Ask the facility what a first visit involves and whether you can borrow equipment.
Practice
Look at a course page and locate its hole count, visitor access and official booking information. Write down anything you still need to ask.
