Learn the short shot
Choose a landing area and observe how the ball rolls.
A chip combines a short flight with roll toward the hole. Look at the lie, the landing area and the space available. On a practice area, observe what happens with a small, controlled motion before adding more length.
The linked demonstration explains a starting technique. Practise where short shots are permitted, with a clear area around you. Club choice and the ground affect the result; no single shot fits every lie.
Practice
Choose one landing area on a practice green and watch the ball's flight and roll. Change the landing area and compare the result.
